Young Leaders
About the Young Leaders
In addition to planning the annual Young Leaders’ Conference scheduled in the fall of each year, the Young Leaders’ Committee develops workshops, tours, and other programs in conjunction with NAPA’s Annual Meeting. The Young Leaders’ Committee also works with the National Asphalt Pavement Association Research and Education Foundation (NAPAREF) to administer the Young Leaders’ Scholarship and to sponsor the Professor Training Program. The Young Leaders’ Program was founded in 1985 as the “Hotmixers for Tomorrow.” In 1986 the name was changed to just the "Hotmixers". The name was changed in 2001 to better reflect the group’s mission and activities. A short presentation (PDF) on the history of the Young Leaders may be obtained by clicking here. How to get involved Young executives in the HMA industry who are interested in improving their professional skills and in expanding their network of colleagues and friends in the industry are invited to participate in the Young Leaders’ Program. Young Leaders’ Committee meetings, open to all NAPA Members, are held during NAPA’s Annual Meeting and Mid-year Meeting. A special event held in the fall of each year is the Young Leaders’ Conference.
Young Leaders’ Committee Currently chaired by Ross Kashiwagi, Granite Construction, Inc., California, the Young Leaders’ Committee interfaces with NAPA’s leadership on an array of issues including strategic planning, meeting planning, program development, and educational opportunities. The chair of the Young Leaders’ Committee serves on NAPA’s Board of Directors.
